Andrew Whale
Director - Nonclinical Safety Immunocore Ltd
Andrew leads the Nonclinical Safety team at Immunocore Ltd, responsible for preclinical assessment of candidate drug molecules progressing into first-in-human clinical studies as well as nonclinical safety strategy in Research and supporting later stage clinical studies. Andrew joined Immunocore in 2017 and initially led efforts to develop TCR x CD3 bispecific T cell engagers, including IMC-KRAS G12D, before leading teams to assess preclinical safety and specificity of a number of candidate drug molecules for the treatment of cancer and infectious diseases. Prior to Immunocore, Andrew held positions at Argenta and Karus Therapeutics, where he was in vitro Biology Group Leader. Andrew obtained his BSc Biochemistry from University of East Anglia before gaining a PhD from Imperial College, London and postdoctoral research at King’s College. Andrew’s research experience focused on the role of cell signaling and the actin cytoskeleton during infection, immune cell chemotaxis and cancer.
