Peter King, PhD, is Vice President, Head of Discovery at Immuneering Corporation. Now in his seventh year with the company, he brings over 20 years of prior drug discovery experience at Janssen R&D/Johnson & Johnson and SmithKline Beecham. He holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Leicester (1996) and a Ph.D. in Diabetes and Endocrinology from the University of Liverpool (2000). Dr. King joined Janssen in 2002, leading preclinical oncology in vivo work and the Ex Vivo Center of Excellence for humanized model development, before moving to Janssen’s Spring House, PA site in 2012 to lead Molecular Imaging for Oncology.
Since joining Immuneering in 2019, Dr. King has led preclinical chemistry and biology R&D, contributing to two IND filings cleared within 30 days each: atebimetinib (IMM-1-104, once-daily deep cyclic MEK1/2 inhibitor, 2022) and envometinib (IMM-6-415, twice-daily, 2023). Atebimetinib is being evaluated in MAPKeeper 301 (NCT07562152), a global, pivotal Phase 3 trial in combination with modified gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel in first-line metastatic pancreatic cancer.
